Maggie L. Walker was on the Board of Trustees for the Frederick Douglass Memorial and Historical Association along with many other prominent women around the country. They worked tirelessly to make Douglass' Washington DC home a memorial open to the public. Thanks to their efforts, the home was and still is open to the public and is now owned and operated by the National Park Service.
